Tigers Sweep Hawks at Home

The Dalhousie Tigers swept the Memorial Sea-Hawks after Sunday's 83-42 loss.

Memorial was able to keep Dalhousie contained in the first frame, preventing the Tigers from opening the game with an early lead. It was not an incredibly confident first half for the Hawks, as they are still struggling with so many key players out (Thompson, Long, Barker, and Emmanuel Ring).

Memorial has had some role players step up in this weekend series, especially Paddy Dawe, who was an early contributor for the Hawks. He finished he half with 4 points. The Hawks had balanced scoring again, with no player scoring over double digits in the first half – Daniel Foo led the way for Memorial at the half with 6 points. The Tigers held the lead through the first half however, 37-25.

The third quarter was all Dalhousie, as they outscored Memorial 26-10. The Hawks could not hold on to the ball, causing turnover after turnover, giving the Tigers easy fastbreak points.  The Tigers took advantage of the Hawks sloppy play and blew open the lead heading into the fourth quarter.

The fourth quarter was a dismal display from Memorial. They found no easy looks against an overwhelming Dalhousie defense, and could not stop the relentless onslaught on defense. It was certainly a game to forget for Memorial.

There were no standout performances for the Hawks. Daniel Foo was the leading score with 12 points. For Dalhousie, four players scored double digits – three of them coming off the bench (VeinotSellen, Carson, and Burrows).

Memorial will look to move past this tough weekend and rally against Acadia next weekend.
