Sea-Hawks Sweep Panthers

Sea-Hawks Sweep Panthers

The Memorial Sea-Hawks (5-8) completed a weekend sweep of the UPEI Panthers (4-10) with an 88-70 victory on Sunday afternoon at The Field House.

The first half was a confident display on offense for the Hawks. They ended up shooting over 60% from the field. The Panthers were a different story. They struggled to consistently connect, shooting 35%.

Memorial was able to make effective use of their bench players, putting up a modest 9 points from bench players, but their intangible benefits were certainly felt in the game. Nicholas Fowler had a breakout performance for the Hawks, finishing with 9 points and 2 rebounds.

Memorial was buoyed by Emanuel Ring's confident 15 in the first half, with Nathan Barker putting up a consistent 10. The Panthers were supported by Jack MacAulay's 12, shooting perfectly from deep in the first half as well.

In the third quarter, the Hawks completely ran away with the game sent the Panthers packing. UPEI scored just 8 points in the frame, while Memorial posted 25. They started the quarter on a 6-0 run and kept their foot on the gas.

The fourth quarter was more or less an opportunity for bench players to get some playing time, as Memorial kept a hold of their lead.

UPEI could not string together any valuable offense, as Memorial scored in bunches. Three starters had double digits. Emanuel Ring had a game-high 25, notching Subway player-of-the-game for his efforts.

This was a valuable weekend for the Hawks, as they earned two much needed wins. They hope to extend this streak against StFX next weekend.
