Hawks in Cape Breton to Battle Capers

The Memorial Sea-Hawks (2-3) men's basketball team is off to Cape Breton for a two-game weekend series with the Capers (1-5). The Sea-Hawks are coming off a weekend sweep of the Acadia Axemen and will look to carry that momentum into their final games before the Christmas break.

Nathan Barker (Corner Brook, NL) enters the weekend as the top scorer in the AUS, averaging 23.4 PPG. The Capers will surely key in on the 3rd year forward this weekend to try and limited the Sea-Hawks offense.

Memorial will also be leaning heavily on rookie guard Emmanuel Ring (St. John's, NL), who posted 25 points and 14 rebounds in the Sea-Hawks Saturday victory over the Axemen. Ring is currently averaging 15.8 PPG and 7.4 RPG over the Sea-Hawks first 5 games this season.

Daniel Foo (Corner Brook, NL) has provided some veteran leadership for the young Hawks this season. Foo is currently averaging 15.4 PPG and is in the top 5 in the AUS in 3PT shooting percentage at 43.5%.

The Capers will be led by 2nd year guard Osman Omar, who is 2nd to Nathan Barker in league scoring, averaging 21.0 PPG. Omar is a threat from inside and outside meaning the Sea-Hawks will need to be aware of him whenever he is on the court.

The first game between the Sea-Hawks and Capers is set for Saturday night at 8:30pm NST. The teams will wrap up the weekend with a Sunday match-up taking place at 2:30pm NST. This is an important weekend for both teams, as each game is worth 4 points in the standings, which will have a big impact on the final playoff standings.
