Hawks Ready to Battle Huskies at Home

The Sea-Hawks are on home court for the first time this season when they host the Saint Mary's Huskies for a two game weekend series at The Field House.

The Hawks enter the weekend with an 0-2 record after two hard fought road losses to the UPEI Panthers last weekend. Saint Mary's enter play with a perfect 2-0 record after defeating the Acadia Axemen twice on home court last weekend.

Sea-Hawks Head Coach Peter Benoite expects a solid effort from his team this weekend on home court.

"We need to keep working hard, taking one game at a time giving our best effort day in and day out."

Benoite know Saint Mary's will be a tough test for his squad, but knows if they focus on limiting some of their strengths they will have a chance to win.

"Obviously we need to slow down Saint Mary's and compete with their guard play, but the focus will be on our effort and competing each and every game. We give our best effort, we will be fine."

Memorial has a young group this season, which means it'll be the first time the team gets to play in front of a home crowd. First year forward Boris Ristanovic (Kraguevac, Serbia) is looking forward to that experience.

"I am very excited to play my first home game as a university basketball player! Looking forward to our supporters showing up and supporting this team."

Memorial will be led by Ristanovic, Nathan Barker (Corner Brook, NL) and Emmanuel Ring (St. John's, NL). Barker and Ring combined for 61 points last Saturday night in the Sea-Hawks loss to the Panthers. The Hawks will need the young duo to continue their strong play, but also get contributions from other spots in the lineup.

The Sea-Hawks and Huskies take the court on Saturday night at 8pm, followed by a rematch on Sunday afternoon at 2pm. Both games take place at The Field House and will also be webcast on AUStv.ca. Live score updates are available on goseahawks.ca.
