Sea-Hawks Look to Tame Panthers

Sea-Hawks Look to Tame Panthers

Matchup

The Memorial Sea-Hawks (4-10) head to PEI for a two-game weekend series with the Panthers (2-12). Memorial currently holds the last playoff spot with 14 points in the standings. UPEI only has 4 points, but with 8 points available this weekend, these games are crucial for both teams.

Last Action

The Sea-Hawks dropped both home games last weekend to the Acadia Axemen. Memorial played without star forward Nathan Barker, who returns to the lineup this weekend.

UPEI recorded their first and second victories of the season last weekend, with a home sweep of the Cape Breton Capers.  The sweep keeps the Panthers alive in the race for the AUS playoffs and should provide them a lot of confidence entering play this weekend.

By The Numbers

67.9 – The Panthers are averaging a mere 67.9 points per game this season, which is last in the AUS. They improved that number last weekend, averaging 74 points over both games. The Panthers will need to do the same as the Sea-Hawks are currently averaging 79.0 points per game on the season.

8 – Memorial currently has a 10-point advantage on UPEI for the final playoff spot. A split or weekend sweep would put the Sea-Hawks in great position heading down the stretch. The Panthers would mathematically still be able to catch the Sea-Hawks, but it would be a daunting task.

Player Spotlight

Nathan Barker (Memorial) – The Sea-Hawks will be happy to have Barker back in the lineup this weekend as he is 8th in the AUS in points per game (17.9) and almost 31 minutes per game. His addition should provide a spark for the Hawks on both ends of the court.

Milorad Redlarevic (UPEI) – Redlarevic has been a consistent performance all season for the Panthers and is currently averaging 13.5 PPG (13th in the AUS). He finished last weekend averaging 15.5 PPG in the team's sweep of the Capers. If the Panthers are going to keep their playoff hopes alive, it will mean Redlarevic will need a big weekend.
