Hawks Head to Acadia for Final Tune Up

The 11-7 Sea-Hawks are on the road this weekend to take on the 9-9 Acadia Axemen. Both teams have clinched playoff berths, but there are some important narratives to keep an eye on when these teams hit the floor.

Memorial is 9-1 at home, a veritable juggernaut in the Field House. However, on the road they are 2-6 and will look to improve that record as they prepare for the 2017 AUS Championships the following weekend. Head Coach Peter Benoite has been pleased with his teams effort and focus on the road this season, but acknowledges that winning on the road in the AUS is something most teams struggle with.  He feels confident that if his team can continue to improve their ball movement on offense, while playing tough on the defensive end, they will give themselves opportunities for success.

Meanwhile, Acadia has its own concerns as the season ends. They have been the rare team whose peripheral numbers match their record. The team has an average point differential of plus 2 and are exactly .500 this season. Although the Axemen have been inconsistent at times this season, they are a team that have shown they could put up points in a hurry, so the Sea-Hawks will have to be sharp on the defensive end.

The Sea-Hawks and Axemen take the court on Friday at 8:30pm and Saturday at 3:30pm. You can catch both games live on AUStv.ca
