Sea-Hawks to battle Capers at home

The Memorial Sea-Hawks men's basketball team returns home this weekend to take on the Cape Breton Capers at The Field House.  The first game of the weekend set is 8:00pm on Saturday, followed by the Sunday rematch at 2:00pm.

Memorial comes into the weekend in third place in the AUS with a 3 and 1 record, while the Capers are still searching for their first win of the season sitting at 0 and 4.

Even though the Capers are winless on the season, Memorial Head Coach Peter Benoite is not taking them lightly.  This weekend's games are worth eight points in the standings, so he expects his team to be focused.

"The reality of our league, is that any team can beat any team.  Wins are not given in this league and you have to earn each one.   You have to show up week in and week out.  We saw last weekend the difference focus and energy can have, and we don't want to be on the other end of a lack of focus this weekend, especially with 8 points on the line."

Cape Breton are lead by forward Kenny Jean-Louis who is averaging 21.3 pts/game, which puts him at second in the conference in scoring.

"CBU are very athletic and have some very good players, if we are not ready, they can smack us, so we have to come very prepared and focused.   We have to be ready to battle and play hard," says Benoite.

Memorial will be looking for another consistent weekend of play from Daniel Gordon and Davion Parnsalu, who have been leading the way in the absence of AUS All-Star Vasilije Curcic.  Curcic has battled injury early in the season, but will look to get back and help the team this weekend.

The Sea-Hawks and Capers take the court at 8:00pm on Saturday night and once again on Sunday after at 2:00pm.  Tickets are available at The Field House and the games will be available live on AUStv.ca.
