Sea-Hawks look to improve road record

The Memorial Sea-Hawks men's basketball team travels to Antigonish, Nova Scotia this weekend for a two game series with the StFX X-Men.  Tipoff is scheduled for 8:30pm NST on Saturday and 1:30pm NST on Sunday.

The Sea-Hawks are coming off a weekend sweep of the UNB Varsity Reds and currently sit third in the AUS standings with a 2 and 0 record.  StFX split their season openers with the UPEI Panthers and will host the Sea-Hawks for their first home games of the season.

Memorial struggled on the road last season, finishing with a 1-9 record.  Sea-Hawks coach Peter Benoite is fully aware of his teams struggles last season on the road and knows his team needs to improve in that area this season.

"Finding a way to win on the road is certainly a focus for us this year.   So that is certainly an area we are trying to improve on.   Essentially we have to come with the same energy and focus that we played with at home last weekend.  If we can do that and maintain that for 40 minutes a game, we'll put ourselves in good position to win games, regardless if we are home and on the road."

Benoite was pleased with his team's performance last weekend at home, but knows they will have to be ready for an intense matchup with the X-Men.

"Obviously StFX will look to protect their home court, and they just played two strong games vs UPEI.  The league will be very tight this year, and no doubt every game is important.  So these will be important games for both teams, and we will have to handle their pressure and intensity, and no doubt they will have high energy that we will have to match."

The first game takes place on Saturday night at 8:30pm NST, followed by an afternoon match-up at 3:30pm on Sunday.  Both games are available live on www.AUStv.ca.
