Memorial faces tough competition in Kingston

Memorial 47 Ottawa 84
The Ottawa Gee-Gees recorded its second consecutive victory of the weekend at the Queen's Invitational, topping the Memorial Seahawks 84-47 on Saturday afternoon at the ARC.

The Gee-Gees used a balanced attack to tally the win, which was led by a 14-point performance from Jean Emmanuel Pierre-Charles who shot 7-of-10 from the field. Brody Maracle added 13 points and seven rebounds, while Calvin Epistola notched four three-pointer jumpers for 12 points.

Ottawa shot 47.2% as a team, compared to 32.1% from the Seahawks. Vasilije Curcic led all players with 25 points, scoring more than half of his team's points, and Daniel Gordon added six points and three rebounds off the bench in a losing cause for Memorial.

Queen's 87 Memorial 63
The Queen's Gaels men's basketball team picked up a victory on the final game of the opening day at the Tindall Invitational, downing the Memorial Seahawks 87-63 on Friday evening at the ARC.

The Gaels were led by Sukhpreet Singh who drained a game-high 19 points, shooting 8-of-14 from the field and going a perfect 3-of-3 from beyond the arc. Singh also picked up a team-best five assists and three take-aways, while Richard Iheadindu and Tanner Graham dropped 16 and 15 points respectively. Queen's shot an impressive  54.0% (34-63) as a team on Friday, compared to 43.1% (25-58) from the Seahawks.

Memorial was topped by Davion Parnsalu and Vasilije Curcic who recorded 12 points apiece in a losing cause for the Atlantic University Sport (AUS) representatives. The Seahawks turned over the ball 22 times, compared to 13 from the host Gaels.

Alberta 90 Memorial 62
The Alberta Golden Bears men's basketball team picked up a victory on the final day at the Tindall Invitational, downing the Memorial Seahawks 90-62 on Sunday afternoon at the ARC.

The Sea-Hawks were led by Vasilije Curcic who finishe the day with 13 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 blocks.  Austin Chambers also chipped in with 12 points off the bench in the loss.

The loss gave the Sea-Hawks an 0-3 record in the tournament, with their lone win coming on Thursday night versus St. Lawrence College.  Memorial will open their season on Saturday, November 5th at home verus the UNB Varsity Reds.
