(St. John's, Newfoundland April 11, 2024) The Memorial University Sea-Hawks Women's Volleyball program is delighted to announce the addition of Alyssa Bannister to its roster for the upcoming season. Head Coach Sydney Rohm expresses her excitement for Alyssa's talent, dedication, and passion for the game.
Alyssa, hailing from Corner Brook, Newfoundland, brings with her a wealth of experience and accomplishments from her time at Corner Brook Regional High School and various clubs, including 4A Titans, Aces, and Team NL Eastern Elite. Her impressive sporting achievements include winning the 4A champions title, securing a third-place finish with Team NL Eastern Elite, and earning recognition as a Team NL All-Star and MVP.
Choosing Memorial University for its wide array of opportunities and its criminology program, Alyssa is eager to represent her home province Newfoundland once again. Her playing style is characterized by a balance of fun and competitiveness, with a strategic approach to attacking aggressively on the court. Alyssa looks forward to joining the Sea-Hawks program and embracing the challenge of playing at a higher caliber level, particularly for her home province. Having represented Newfoundland since grade 7, Alyssa brings a wealth of experience and a passion for competition. She eagerly anticipates relocating to St. John's in August to embark on the next chapter of her athletic and academic journey.
On the court, Alyssa's strengths lie at the net, where she excels in attacking and blocking. Her ability to read opposing players and adapt to different coaching styles has contributed to her success and growth as a player. She is eager to contribute to the team's success and make a positive impact both on and off the court. During her time at Memorial University, Alyssa hopes to excel academically, pursuing her Bachelor of Arts in Criminology while continuing to pursue her passion for volleyball. She aims to contribute to the team's success and further develop her skills as a player, embracing new challenges and opportunities for growth.
