Coach English and the Sea-Hawks women's Basketball program are excited to announce the commitment of Naomie Chaperon-Ducé for the 2024-2025 season.

Naomie Chaperon-Ducé, a 5'5 point guard from Montreal, Quebec just finished her last season at Montmorency where she was their starting point guard and averaged 3.4ppg, 3.5 rpg and 2.6apg. Her decision to join Memorial's women's basketball program comes as welcomed news as Coach English continues to build the roster for next season.

"We are thrilled to welcome Naomie to our team," said Coach English. "Her skills on the court and her commitment to excellence make her a perfect fit for our program. Her ability to defend at a high level and take care of the basketball are valueable attributes. We look forward to seeing her contribute to our success on and off the court next season."

Naomie's says her decision to commit for Memorial University just felt right and is a reflection of the positive, and family-like culture of the women's basketball program. I trust that I will be able to integrate into my new family and definitely grow as a student-athlete at Memorial."

Naomie is known for her exceptional court vision and leadership ability, and she brings a wealth of talent and experience to the Memorial. Having played in CEGEP for the past three seasons, competing in the CCAA, she will enter Memorial with a great level of experience and coach English expects her to have an impact right away.

"Having graduated a lot experience this past season, it was important for our team to add a player like Naomie. She has already played a high level in arguably the toughest conference in the CCAA. We will be looking for Naomie to bring with her a toughness and high compete level, that will without question help our program next season and for years to come."

Memorial finished last season with a record of 9-11 and entered the AUS Championships as the 6th seed. They would eventually upset the 3rd seed Acadia Axewomen 71-68 in the quarterfinal. Memorial would drop the semifinal to the UNB Reds ending their season.
