The kickoff to the Co-Ed volleyball season in St. John's is around the corner. The MUN Men's Volleyball Team is hosting a Co-Ed Tournament for 16 teams.
We can accommodate 8 competitive teams and 8 recreational teams from the evening of Friday, March 31st through the Saturday, April 1st. If the tournament is full, each team will be guaranteed a minimum of 4 matches.
Registration fee will be $175 per team and teams can register by emailing the Head Coach of Men's Volleyball, Cisco Farrero at ffarrero@mun.ca.
Standard NLVA Co-Ed Rules Apply
Rules for Competitive Division:
- Competitive division will have a maximum of 2 university volleyball athletes per gender.
- Jump serving is allowed by both females and males.
- Net height is at 2.24 M (Sr Womens height)
- You may designate a Male AND Female libero (have to take out a player of own gender)
- There is a maximum of 3 males on the court, there is no minimum. A team can consist of 6 females if they wish. Teams MUST have 6 players; you will default if you only have 5 players.
- Substitutions: A team will have unlimited substitutions, however regular substitution restrictions will apply (can only go in and out for the same player). You can only substitute players of the same gender.
Rules for Recreation Division:
- Recreation division may have 1 university volleyball athlete per gender.
- Net height is at 2.24 M (Sr Womens height)
- Males can only attack from back row
- 2 Males cannot block together
- Jump serving is not allowed
- Free substitution rule is in effect (you may sub players in, after a rally has been whistled down without calling a substitution.) This can only be done for a player who has just finished serving!
- There is a maximum of 3 males on the court, there is no minimum. A team can consist of 6 females if they wish. Teams MUST have 6 players; you will default if you only have 5 players.
